Saturday 24th March 2018, Murrayfield Parish Church hosted our MCT Earth Hour event.
A thought provoking evening attended by a diverse audience.
Saturday 25th March 2017 we hosted a Murrayfield Churches Together evening event to turn the lights off for one hour for Earth Hour.
Earth Hour is a worldwide grassroots initiative started in 2007 in Australia and has grown across over 170 countries.
Our event featured music, film, poetry, information and an activity to encourage people to ‘go beyond’ and choose a pledge to DO something from now on. Examples of pledges were ‘wash my clothes at 30 degrees’, ‘switch off my TV standby’ and ‘turn off the tap when I brush my teeth’. 33 pledges were made on the night and our retiring collection to support the work of WWF Scotland was £125.99. We were joined in spirit on the night by another 20 members of the congregation who signed up to do the Earth Hour at home. Fantastic!
Thank you to everyone who took part in Earth Hour in whatever way. In just one hour we have taken some important actions for our world.
